Post via forum by Quintus <quintus@xxxxxxxxxx>: I have worked the last days on improving Chessboard’s mailinglist integration. According to my tests yesterday it should work better now. As of 2015-05-28, the gateway has been reinstituted. All posts you make the this forum are now automatically send to the mailinglist and vice-versa. Replies to posts existing on either side may behave unexpectedly, but otherwise it should work fine. I hope this now works the way I want it. Valete, Quintus -- Sent by Chessboard.

Post via forum by datahead <cjj_009@xxxxxxxxxx>: The problem is: 1) I wasn't setting the working directory for the run option in QT Creator before, causing it to start from the wrong install directory and not find the share directory 2) After setting it now, QT Creator still seems to be ignoring it. It may be a bug in QT Creator. Maybe I'd be better off just finding another IDE rather than using/researching this problematic thing. -- Sent by Chessboard.

Server outage

Hi everyone, today night between midnight and 08:00 UTC the alexandria server has been subject of both an SSH breakin attack and a massive spam attack on the wiki. It completely crashed shortly before 08:00 UTC. We solely use SSH publickey authentication, thus it was (near to) impossible to bruteforce the authentication mechanism. No unauthorised access thus happened. As of 09:00 UTC I got a chance to boot up the server again via the hoster’s control panel and reinstituted its services. For the wiki, I was unable to even reach the wiki page after I started it. It simply didn’t load anymore. Inspecting the directory, I see 6299 pages listed for it, which I doubt are legitimate pages. I disabled the wiki for now. This is the peak of problems that arised from the moinmoin wiki software, which might be related to moinmoin itself or to the old version Debian oldstable ships; before ditching it entirely, I’d at least consider that possibility. Debian is known to not keep non-mainstream software up-to-date from a security point of view. The forum was entirely unaffected. It is up again, and it was only down due to the high load on the server (load average > 30). There’s not a single spam post on the forum as far as I can see. For those of you with SSH access, I have switched sshd to port 753 now, which should silence a number of the bruteforce login attempts. sydney, I’d appreciate it if you could PM me on IRC. Releasing 2.0.0

Hi everyone, as you might have noticed, the issue list for the 2.0.0 milestone on the tracker[1] is empty. This means that we have resolved all tickets pending for the 2.0.0 release and we can now continue with the 2.0.0 releasing procedure. Have a look at the release plan[2] again if you are unsure, a short summary follows. We will now enter the Release Candidate phase. For each release candidate issued, we wait two weeks if any serious tickets are opened. If so, the issue must be fixed as soon as possible and a new RC immediately issued. Then the two-week phase starts again. If the two weeks pass without serious reports, the final release is made. That is, we should now find a date to issue the first release candidate (2.0.0-RC1). This should be some time where at least some of us have opportunity to monitor the tracker more closely. As for me, I’m pretty much available during the next weeks, so I will be fine with any suggestions you make. For good measure, I will package a last beta version tomorrow containing all of the recent changes, so that the RC series can start from a clean slate. As datahead has suggested, it might be time to call out for mrvertigo and his YouTube channel after we released the RC1. I’d suggest to wait until the RC2 or the final release (whatever comes first) though, just to be sure he’s not going to run into some obvious bug that will give us bad reputation. What is the preferred way on a local machine to configure FindXXXX.cmake files?

I was doing a little work on building TSC in Visual Studio in Windows (issue #421). I then received an error about Glew not being found (I pasted it further below for completeness). I know that I should have Glew installed in a special directory. This is the FindGLEW.cmake file in C:/Program Files (x86)/CMake 2.8/share/cmake-2.8/Modules. What is the "preferred" way to tell it where to find GLEW so that any time I run cmake on TSC it instantly knows where GLEW is? I know that I can add set commands for the three variables listed at the top of the cmake file (which is what I will probably do for now). However, I'd really like to know the best practice, since I've been wondering if this is a hack. TSC build failures due to sourceforge.net being unavailable

Hi everyone, if you try to build TSC from source currently you are likely to experience issues, because the build process involves downloading and building CEGUI 0.7.9. However, CEGUI is hosted at SourceForge, and SourceForge appears to be down currently, probably due to DDoS as a result of the treatment of The Gimp. You can mitigate this problem by reverting commit 8539d574595f79fbbbdafff8eb3d05a79247c4d2 in your local git copy by utilizing “$ git revert”. Please do NOT push this change onto the remote, though, because doing so will cause distro maintainers headaches as they do not permit downloading from anywhere else than the primary SourceForge URLs. You may use “$ git reset” to undo that action again before you push. I have filed an issue with CEGUI to ask them if they want to move off SourceForge[1].
